In your home – do you sometimes never use some upgrades? For example – the kitchen desk. It’s a common upgrade that people have – yet no one ever uses it! It’s enough space for at least two storage cabinets, or a small table, but people choose not to get rid of it.
Another example would be the home gym. The home gym is something that people get to feel healthy, but they actually do not even work out in it. Why would you buy something you do not use?
I can think of several more options such as whirlpool baths, double ovens, as well as wet bars. No one uses these things!
- Chances are good that both your ovens only get a workout around holidays, then sit idle the rest of the year.
- I see the wisdom of tubs for bathing the kiddos, but fancy bathtubs for big humans seem over the top.
- Given the prevalence of open floor plans, it seems like overkill to add another sink area when the kitchen is so close by (unless of course you live in a ginormous house).
“Buying or renovating a home isn’t just about actual walls and floors — it’s also an imaginary process in which we project ourselves in different spaces, visualizing what our lives might look like, and the people we could be, if only we lived there”
